Powers: can produce oily black substance that manifests itself as gas or liquid and can transform some or all of her body into the dark material. The substance does not harm anyone if it is inhaled or ingested provided that it is in a less dense form. Only the strongest light can penetrate it. She can alter its density to make it seem like a light fume to a mass nearly solid enough to walk on. The substance is not flammable but can carry an electric current very well.
The substance itself seems to be an extention of her own body, and she can control it with great dexterity in small amounts. In larger amounts her coordination suffers greatly. If the mass is harmed, she feels it. Destroying enough of the matter will cause her to black out--er--become unconsious.
When her body is in a gaseous form, she can fly, squeeze through cracks, and change between gas and liquid. She has little offensive skill, other than becoming liquid and smothering a person into submission or putting out the lights.
Running electricity through any of the matter causes her much pain. She cant maintain entirely gaseous form for long periods of time, a few hours at most, and only then with great and stressfull concentration. A half hour is the longest she goes without at least some discomfort. Wind confuses her greatly when in gas or liquid form, a strong enough gust can confound her into returning dizzily to her solid form. If a great enough amount of gas or liquid is seperated from each other, ex. she is divided in half between an airtight barrier, neither half will be able to return to solidity. She has a surprisingly low pain threshhold for someone who habitually sleeps behind dumpsters.
History: When her power arose in junior high school she became very introverted and stressed. Afraid there was something horribly wrong with her she withdrew from those around her. This problem became much worse as her parents went through an angry and bitter divorce. Running away she spent her last few years using her powers to steal what she needed to survive. After mutants were brought to public view, she became even more afraid and has now sought out Professor Xavier for help and shelter.
Description: Most noticeable about Nox is her soulless dark eyes, they have been completely black since her powers manifested. She wears mirrored sunglasses to keep them hidden. Her hair is shoulder length and black, beaded and braided often. She is of medium height and build, rather pale, as she prefers to play video games rather than play Frisbee or rugby.
She is uncomfortable with being a mutant and can become upset if she is faced with too much weirdness. She will come out of her shell if she is more comfortable but still mainly prefers to be alone. She seems selfish to some, as she has developed a slight “watch out for number one” attitude since she has run away.
Other : Though she left school she likes to read and use the computer, and is smarter than she thinks she is. She is clumsy and easily embarrassed.
