Still tending to their wounds of loss, the X-Men have begun to slowly recuperate after the death of Jean Grey. They’re gaining more and more students and recruits, but it’s a slow process, because everyone knows what happened last time. Though holding, they’re not ready for another attack so soon. With the staff shrunken by one, and another incapacitated, it seems as though the students will never be prepared if something should strike quickly.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the playing board, Magneto’s numbers are growing at an alarming rate. He’s becoming more aggressive and will do whatever it takes to make the odds sway to his favour.
The X-Men are becoming outnumbered. They’re vulnerable and weak, and they’re not ready to be attacked again like Stryker did. And.. speaking of Stryker, do you really think he died? And what about his minion Yuriko? After narrowly escaping a watery grave, William returned to Alkali Lake, only to find his base underwater and the cold remains of Lady Deathstrike. Taking the body to his new base, he worked his scientific magic to make Yuriko live again. He wants revenge, and now that he has two certain spies working undercover within the ranks of the X-Men, destruction is sure to follow in their wake.
And to make matters even worse, a so-called mutant ‘cure’ has been developed by the Worthington Industries. On one hand, those who can’t live with their mutations--physically or otherwise--now have a choice to live normally. But on the other hand, there are those who don’t want to be cured, and they don’t want anyone else to be either.
Once a mutant--always a mutant.
