Nox by the pool

[Nox]

Nox shivered next to the pool, wrapped in an enormous yellow towel. She had exactly half of her big toe in the frigid water and that was all she intended to get wet until the clouds left. The indigo glass beads in her black braided hair tinkled whenever she moved.

Suddenly an idea struck her. Under her towel, her body turned black and tarlike. About half of the goo oozed into the water and settled thickly at the bottom. She dropped the towel and sat happily on the edge of the pool. The relatively scarce sunlight was absorbed entirely by her black liquid body, heating herself and slowly warming the pool. The half of the black goop that did not slip into the water wavered but maintained the shape of her head and torso.

[Aira McCarthy]

Aira McCarthy came out of the institute. Upon seeing Nox sitting by the pool, she went over and joined her, dangling her grass-stained bare feet in the now semi-warm water.
"Hi Nicole! What's up?"

[Nox]

Nicole eyed her housemate from behind the mirrored sunglasses that were sitting on her blobbish black head. She didn't remember anyone telling her what Aira's powers were, which made her nervous.

"I was just going to practice diving...once the pool warmed up." She oozed into the now-lukewarm water. "I think that blonde was in here earlier. What's his name? Jack Frost? Icicle Boy?" she sucked the remaining goop up and transformed back into her small, weak, solid shape.

"Want to have a diving contest?" she asked Aira, blowing a ring of black smoke into the air.

Aira smiled at Nicole's reference to Iceman. She thought it was funny how she had called him Jack Frost.
"Don't let him catch you saying that about him! I'll race with you!" She walked down to the diving board and jumped in, sending water everywhere.

[Nox]

Nox set her sunglasses by the side of the pool and laughed as the splash soaked her. She swam into the shallow end of the pool and waved for Aira.

"First one to finish three laps wins!" she splashed Aira. "and after I beat you, I want to try flipping off of the diving board."

[Aira McCarthy]

"Oh ho!" Aira grinned at her friend, " I believe you are mistaken! I'm the one who's going to win!"After doing a small sommersault underwater, she popped her head back up. "On the count of 3! 1-2-3!"

[Remy]

*he leans on the wall and makes cards tricks ... he looks at Aira and Nox*

[Aira McCarthy]

After the race (it was a tie!!) Aira noticed Remy standing nearby.
"Hey! Come in! The water's fine!"

[Nox]

Nox mock-sulked in the deep end. "The water is not fine! It is laced with the taint of failure! Woe! Misery!" She pretended to strangle herself with her hair. Finishing with her dramatics, she wriggled out of the pool. Positioning herself on the diving board she cannonballed, attempting to splash both Aira and the man with the red eyes.

[Remy]

*he is all wet after Nox cannonballed into the pool ... starts to laugh*

[Aira McCarthy]

Aira laughed as she was splashed. Then she went to the diving board and did a couple fancy spins into the water.

[Remy]

*he takes off the wet clothes ... he walkd up to the diving board ... then he jumps up and dives into the pool*

[Nox]

Nox turned red as Remy peeled his clothes off and tried to hide by going into a "dead mans" float, facedown and limp. She let her hair cover her beet-colored face and waited for the blush to pass.

Of course, her milk-pale skin added to her godforsaken luck and her neck and shoulders turned glaringly red within seconds.

[Remy]

*he swims up to Nox* I think chérie we did't meet earlier ... my name is Remy Lebeau

[Nox]

Nicole came out of her float less than gracefully, and mumbled a greeting from behind her wet braids. "I'm Nicole." She closed her eyes and tried very hard to be invisible. Peeping out, she was still visible and there was still a nearly naked man looking at her. She reddened further.

"I'm new..."
